Baggio Backs Mazzone

(November 17, 2000) After four defeats and only two draws Brescia are looking for their first win of the season against mighty Juventus.

Their star player Roberto Baggio will lead the attack. "I don't regret coming to Brescia," he said. "This is a difficult moment for us and from my past experiences you can only get through them if you stay together and know that the fans are behind you."

He added: "On Tuesday when we went back to the training ground our fans were there supporting us with tremendous enthusiasm. If we stick together we can pull through."

Baggio also said that coach Carlo Mazzone should keep his place at Brescia. "Mazzone will stay here. If someone thinks otherwise they'd better change their mind as quickly as they can."

Against Juventus Baggio will partner Dario Hubner up front. "I'd play just behind the two strikers, but Mazzone at the moment needs me in that position and I will adapt as I have always done in the past." Juventus are also going through a bad patch but Baggio dismissed any hint of an easy game. "They are not playing well right now but they are always a tricky customer," he said. "In the Italian Cup we beat them, but on Sunday it will be a different game. It will be a battle."
