According to Giornale di Brescia, in tomorrow's Serie A away match against Udinese, Brescia coach Mazzone would use the same forward combination as the one that eliminated Juventus in Coppa Italia. That is he will put Baggio behind the two strikers Hubner and Gonzalez as an attacking midfielder.

Thanks to Jorge Perez Carrano Thanks to Sergey A. Irinarkhoff Thanks to Sergey A. IrinarkhoffSorry for not updating as I went to Melbourne for vacation. From today everything will be back to normal.

This Sunday Brescia will play their first Serie A match against Udinese. After the match, Baggio will travel to Tokyo on Monday to prepare for JOMO Cup 2000 on Wednesday. This is the second consecutive JOMO Cup appearance for Roby that he will be in the World Dream team. Last year he scored two goals at the Tokyo National Stadium and received the Most Valuable Player award. This year's JOMO Cup is different from past years as the Japan team will be the National Team, in which there are Nakata and Nanami. According to Giornale di Brescia, Baggio would stay in Japan for about three to four days.

The weekend after JOMO Cup will have no Serie A games due to the World Cup 2002 Qualifyer between Italy and Romania at the San Siro Stadium.

Giornale di Brescia picture Thanks to Sergey A. IrinarkhoffBrescia played a friendly match with a local team Bedizzolese on Wednesday, and they won by a score of 9-0. Baggio didn't score, but he was involved in all Gonzalez's three goals, which indicated a better understanding between them. This is surely a good sign for the team before playing the Coppa Italia second leg match against Juventus this Saturday. As reported in Giornale di Brescia, coach Carlo Mazzone on Saturday would use the same forward combination as the first leg, with Baggio behind Hubner and Gonzalez.

The first picture here is Baggio playing in that friendly match in Bedizzole, the source is Giornale di Brescia. The second one was sent to me by Sergey A. Irinarkhoff, it's a picture of Roby in Bologna. Thanks to Sergey!

500,000 hits! In here I would like to thank you all for your continuous support!

According to Giornale di Brescia, Brescia forward Raul Gonzalez believed that with the genius of Baggio and the speed of himself, they could eliminate Juventus. And he told the newspaper about his feeling of Roby, he said "Baggio is fantasy, joy, is soccer." Then he said "if I want to put the ball into the net, there is only one way I can do it, that is to be in tune with Baggio." He also dreamed of scoring his first goal for Brescia from a Roby assistance.

According to Giornale di Brescia, Baggio's wife Andreina brought their children Valentina and Mattia to Rigamonti on Saturday. Roby held Mattia on his arm, and Mattia said "look at you papi! They let you wear the captain band!" Also, it seems that Andreina did throw herself into the match. When Baggio won the ball from Del Piero early in the match, she smiled. And after Gonzalez attempted for a goal, she said "that player is fast." Three minutes later, when Baggio's brilliant pass to Hubner was called offside, Andreina said "nooooo!" Then at half time, Valentina and Mattia wanted to eat ice-cream, and Andreina satisfied them.

When Roby was substituted in the 67th minute, the crowd applauded, and Andreina appreciated their action by saying "we are happy about this. Brescia is an ideal choice for Roberto. I hope that he can do the same as he did in Bologna. In recent months, he is always calm and serene, which is his character."

While another Giornale di Brescia reported that Baggio said that he would like to score 40 goals in the coming two seasons, in order to give a boost for his return to the national team.

As I was told by Marco from Brescia, their home ground Mario Rigamonti Stadium was built in 1928. It has a capacity of 27,547, and it is located in central Brescia. Marco also told me that they might build a new English style stadium in 2001.

The first four pictures here are from Giornale di Brescia, with the fourth being a photo of Roby's wife Andreina. The rest are pictures of the Rigamonti Stadium, they were sent to me by Marco, thanks to Marco!

Giornale di Brescia picture Giornale di Brescia pictureAs reported in Giornale di Brescia, Baggio thanked the supporters who went and watched him at the Rigamonti Stadium. He said "thank all the Brescia fans who come and see me today! Thanks for letting me have the feeling that I am an important player once again after four months!"

Also, he was satisfied with his performance in the match against Juventus, he told the newspaper the following, "my performance? I am happy with it. The only things I need to do now is to find the rhythm of game playing, as well as to work with my teammates. I must know them well and to understand my role in the team." Roby also said that with the spirit shown in the match, they surely could be successful.

When talking about Juventus and Brescia's striking partner, Baggio said "Juventus were playing well, we did have some difficulties, but we didn't let it go. While I was impressed by the speed of Gonzalez and the power of Hubner. Together we can be amazing."

When asked whether they would have the chance to qualify in Coppa Italia, Roby answered "yes, although it won't be an easy game in Turin. But it's nice to know that we can still play."

Also from Giornale di Brescia, one of the assistants of Italian national team coach Trapattoni went to the Rigamonti Stadium to watch the match.

Baggio's good performance in his first game in the 2000/2001 season earned him a 7 point from RAI Sport, as Brescia drew with Juventus 0-0 at their home ground Mario Rigamonti Stadium. Roby played well as an attacking mid-fielder behind the two strikers Hubner and Gonzalez, he didn't only created chances for the 2 forwards, he also had his own scoring opportunities, although he didn't score. He was substituted after playing for 67 minutes.

Below are five pictures of Baggio in the Brescia-Juventus match. The first one is an Associated Press picture, in which you can see the familiar captain band on Roby's arm. The next two pictures are from La Gazzetta dello Sport, and then two RAI pictures. The sixth picture here is a Giornale di Brescia picture, in the picture is Baggio with coach Mazzone.

According to Giornale di Brescia, Baggio will be the new captain of Brescia. And here is what the original captain, striker Dario Hubner said: "the importance of soccer is to improve. For this reason I have decided to let him to be the captain."

Another report in the newspaper said that the two strikers to be playing in front of Roby in tonight's Coppa Italia match would be Hubner and Argentine player Gonzalez.

Moreover, Baggio's personal massagist Pagni and personal coach Miguel has officially joined Brescia with Baggio, they will work with the team from now on.

Tonight Brescia will play Juventus in Coppa Italia. Baggio will be in the starting line-up after training twice with his new teammates. As reported in Datasport, coach Mazzone would change the team's usual formation 4-4-2 to 4-3-1-2, in order to fit Baggio into the squad. On the other hand, according to Sportal, Juventus coach Ancelotti preferred Roby to join Brescia later, he said "Baggio? He is a great player. It would be better if he arrives (to Brescia) two weeks later!"

Roby joins Brescia doesn't only rock the soccer world in Brescia, it also draws big concerns from the city's top officials. As reported in Calciomercato.com, Brescia deputy mayor Giuseppe Onofri said "the city is enjoying." And the president of the province Alberto Cavalli said "Brescia is proud to have a player like Baggio." While the club's president Corioni expressed his joy by saying "my dream has come true!"

15th September, 2000

Yesterday afternoon Roby, accompanied by his agent Petrone and Brescia president Corioni, had a press conference in a hotel in Coccaglio, and during the presentation Baggio was shown the number 10 jersey that he will wear. He can have this number thanks to the original owner Massimiliano Esposito.

It seems that his relationship with the coach Mazzone is quite good, according to Sportal, he said "there is a strong mutual esteem between us. The trust from him is important because there had been some words that said I had problems with coaches, which created an image that I was annoying. But you can ask my companion to know that I have never had problem with anyone that played with me."

Also, Roby joins Brescia is to find a way back to the national team, he said "I prefer to ramain in Italy in order to be close to my home, and if I stay in Italy I can still have the hope to wear the blue jersey again."

It is possible for us to see him playing for Brescia very soon, as reported in Giornale di Brescia, Corioni said that Baggio could play about 30 minutes in this weekend's Coppa Italia match against Juventus. And according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inzaghi of Juventus wished him a good start when playing against them.

There was an interesting hypothesis that said Roby's youngest brother Eddy, who is currently playing for Ancona, to join Brescia and play alongside his elder brother.

There is a Real video in RAI Sport, it contains a part of the press conference yesterday.

Baggio has officially joined Brescia. The decision arrived last night after a full day negotiation between Roby's agent Petrone and Brescia representatives. The contract has a duration of two years, with a special clause that Roby can leave if the team relegate to Serie B. A news conference will be held today at three o'clock in the afternoon (Italy time).

14th September, 2000

Now Brescia is set to sign Baggio, it was reported that his salary would be somewhere between 4 billion and 4.5 billion Lira, the confirmed amount will follow the official announcement. And according to eurofootball.com, one of the clauses in the contract said that Baggio could leave in the case that the team relagated to Serie B.

On the other hand, as reported in Calciomercato.com, Reggina president Lillo Foti believed that Roby's choice of Brescia was based on the fact that it's closer to Caldogno than Reggio Calabria. He also thanked Baggio for his attention when they were in contact, and finally the president wishes Roby the best fortune for his future.

Thanks to Julia Thanks to JuliaMany Italian press reported that Brescia was close to a signing of Baggio. It was said that the club president Corioni and Roby's representative would have a decisive meeting today.

As reported in Calciomercato.com, the team's sport director Mauro Pederzoli explained the situation, "yesterday president Corioni confirmed to the public the probable arrival of Baggio. We don't forget that we are Brescia and our economic base cannot compare with that of Inter. But it's not a secret that the player wants to play in our squad. Also he has large esteem of Mazzone (the coach)."

Now the only problem remains is salary, but according to Calciomercato.com, Corioni said that they would cover the cost with assistance from the Bank of Brescia as well as self-financing.

Here are another 2 pictures sent to me by Julia from France. Thanks to Julia once again!

Thanks to JuliaAccording to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Brescia president Corioni hoped that they could sign Baggio before this weekend, during which they will play against Juventus in Coppa Italia.

On the other hand, as reported in Calciomercato.com, Reggina's president Lillo Foti said that they still hadn't given up.

As I was told by Marco from Brescia, everyone there was talking about Baggio since last week. While the salary problem wouldn't be resolved merely with the assistance from the Bank of Brescia, so, on Tuesday the club's president Corioni would ask Telecom Italia for help. Telecom Italia is the biggest telecommunication company in the country, and in which one of the major shareholders is from Brescia.

Marco also told me that Brescia was called "the elevator team" because they could not stay in Serie A for more than one season. But if they have Baggio, staying at the top floor will not be a problem.

9th September, 2000

As reported in Calciomercato.com, Baggio's agent Petrone said that they were estimating the hypothesis of moving to Brescia. Also the club's president Gino Corioni had confirmed that they would consider buying Roby. Salary is an obstacle, but Corioni will surely ask their partner -- the Bank of Brescia for assistance.

9th September, 2000

According to Calciatori.com, Baggio was aiming for a medium-small size Italian squad, and he didn't think of finishing his career with a large one. What he is hoping now is to play in the 2002 World Cup, so he needs a squad that guarantees him 90-minute of game play. Then the best choice would be Brescia, which is not a large club, and Roby will be able to play every match in full, also it is not far away from his home in Caldogno.

8th September, 2000

As I was told by a Brescia supporter Marcello, after the team beat Vicenza and advanced in the Italian Cup, their president Corioni announced their will to acquire Baggio. And as reported in Datasport, the team's coach Mazzone also had the same thought. The president and the coach both said Brescia would try to find a way to get Roby.

6th September, 2000

According to Datasport, Baggio said Italy was always his priority, while until now, only Reggina and Napoli ever had contact with him. He said "there is nothing new, the only contacts over the past few weeks were Napoli and Reggina regarding Italian clubs. I read in the newspaper about Brescia, but I can tell you that there is no contact. From foreign countries there are more proposals but my objective will be to remain and play in Italy."

Roby's wish to back to the national team requires him to stay in Italy, he said "I hope I am still useful to the national side, moving to a foreign country will remove me from the Italian squad."

Also about the Italian national team, earlier they drew with Hungary, Del Piero started the match, but he once again disappointed everyone. When talking about him, Baggio said "this is not an easy moment for him, but he must try to get out of this. Soccer career consists of many years, and throughout the career a player will face ups and downs. In other words, if he knows that these are the moments he will face, Del Piero will become a great player again."

While talking about his own unclear future, he said "it's not a tactical problem, I know the world of soccer and I accept this situation. I don't feel happy, but some voices in the past seasons spoken on my behalf gave a distort image of me."

6th September, 2000

As reported in La Gazzetta dello Sport, newly promoted Serie A side Brescia was interested in Baggio. The advantage is that Brescia is close to Roby's home. But wage is again the problem.

On the other hand, according to Sportal, Reggina still kept Baggio as their prime target, but he was not the only one.

Finally, Gurkan sent me some pictures captured from TV screen. Click here. Thanks to Gurkan!

2nd September, 2000

According to Tuttosport, Baggio had decided not to join Reggina, and would rather try experiencing a new life in a foreign club. While earlier there was a report in Calciatori.com that linked Roby to one of his former club A.C. Milan, because he wanted to play in the UEFA Champions League. But surely it is not possible for him to go back.
