As reported in La Gazzetta dello Sport, president Corioni said that Brescia would play the Intertoto with second-choice players, which include reserve and young players. Also coach Mazzone will take a rest, and Menichini is going to coach the team throughout the Intertoto tournament. In this way, all the first team players and coach Mazzone will be able to take enough rest for preparation of next season's Serie A.

17TH JUNE 2001

Today Brescia will play their final game of the season at the Rigamonti Stadium, if they beat Bari while Perugia don't, then Brescia will be in the Intertoto next season. But as reported in Calciomercato, since Intertoto begins much earlier than regular Serie A season, coach Mazzone said they would try to end the season in the best way, but he would prefer not to participate in Intertoto in order to rest as many players as possible.

As reported in Giornale di Brescia, in an interview Roby answered some questions about his first season with Brescia. The worst moment? "The injury in the match against Lecce." The best moment? "The victory against Lecce. It was decisive for the salvation and was a game that we played very well." The turning point of the season? "The draw in Turin, not for the reason that I scored a goal, but because the point gave us confidence before two successive direct clashes with Reggina and Verona, which in effect we won without major troubles." The best goal? "The second goal against Lecce. It's unusual to score from a corner kick." Brescia and supporters? "Thanks to Corioni for giving me the possibility to return into a sqaud after training alone for two months. Thanks to supporters for being good to me from the very first moment and I always feel they are close." Who is the better young player? "There are many, if I must speak out a name I will say Bonera." And in your position? "Pirlo." Who will win the Serie A title? "Roma. But when three teams are so close in the last day, all three deserve to win."

Brescia's chance of getting A.C. Milan forward Bierhoff remains, but their chance of purchasing Udinese striker Muzzi has become smaller. On the other hand, as reported in La Gazzetta dello Sport, Brescia is now considering another striker to be Roby's partner next season, and he is Dutchman Pierre Van Hooijdonk, 31 years old and 192 centimeters tall, currently playing for Portuguese team Benfica.
