Italy is doing well in Euro 2000, but supporters still want Baggio. During a training session of the Italian national team, some fans held up a banner, which read "Perfect, all that's missing now is Baggio". Thanks to Masum for this information!
As reported in Calciatori web site, there were 2 problems for Napoli getting Roby, first was the salary, he asked for 7 billion Lira a year, and a biannual contract; second was that the coach Zeman worried about the dissatisfaction of Baggio if he's put into the bench.
There was a RAI program with goals scored by Baggio, and Gurkan made some mpegs from it. Thanks to Gurkan!

There are many teams that want him, but we will see what we can do." Special thanks to Thirukumaran Sankaran.

RAI Sport picture Thanks to Ahmad Yousef Kedan Thanks to Ahmad Yousef KedanVicenza, Napoli, Perugia, Lazio, Arsenal and Chelsea all have been linked to Roby Baggio. And yesterday, RAI reported that Fiorentina president Cecchi Gori said he had thought of bringing Baggio back. This gives one more possibility to Roby's future.
The first picture here is from RAI. The other 2 were made by Ahmad Yousef Kedan, they are very interesting pics.

WallpaperJust received a message from Cesar Failla from Argentina, he said he met Roby at an airport in Argentina, at that time Baggio was with his brother Giorgio, his father and father-in-law. And Cesar asked him about his future, but Roby said he hadn't decided yet. His contract with Inter Milan will expire at the end of this month, by then we should be able to know which team he will play for in the 2000/2001 season.
On the other hand, I have designed a new wallpaper, the theme is Baggio in his final match with Inter, that is the Inter-Parma game, in which Roby memorably scored 2 beautiful goals.

La Gazzetta dello Sport pictureHere is a La Gazzetta dello Sport picture, the banner reads "I want Roby Baggio".
According to Yahoo!, Baggio is linked to London-base English Premier League teams Arsenal and Chelsea, and it is reported that representatives from both clubs was in talk with Roby's agent. Chelsea wants Baggio because Napoli is going to get Zola back. But as I was told by Raffaele Scarfo, Napoli is trying to purchase both Baggio and Zola.

The no-Baggio Italy beat Turkey 2-1 in their first Group B match in Euro 2000. Remember they won their first game in the same competition back in 1996, also without Baggio.

Just received an e-mail from Raffaele Scarfo. The message was saying that he had an uncle living in Naples, who was a close friend of a Napoli assistant coach. According to him, Baggio is very likely to be going to Napoli in the coming season. Earlier Napoli said that they had no interest in getting Roby, the reason behind was that by saying so they could lower the price when they purchase him.

There have been some rumours of which team Baggio is going to, like Vicenza, Napoli and Perugia, as well as Lazio. But after Napoli had said that they had no interest in getting Baggio, Perugia announced yesterday that they also were not interested in him. Reasons provided by Perugia was that Roby could not enter their programs and also because of economic issue.
Now there are only 2 choices, they are Vicenza and Lazio, but if he goes to Lazio, the situation may not be better than those in the 2 Milan teams, although Lazio's captain Nesta said that he would like to see Roby's arrival. Therefore it is more likely that he will be back to the club where he started his professional career 18 seasons ago.

Euro 2000 is coming soon, but as you all know, Baggio is not in the Italian national team. Oriental Daily, a Hong Kong newspaper, did a survey to see which player, who was left out of the team for whatever reason, was the people's most-wanted to be in the Euro 2000 competition. About 1,200 people voted for their preferences, and the final result was that more than 700 of voters voted for Baggio, while only 4% voted for Vieri. This shows that not only Italians want to see Roby in Euro 2000, soccer fans from Hong Kong also do so.

Italy played an away friendly with Norway without Baggio, and lost 0-1. None of the Italian attackers got more than 6 points from RAI, the highest was Totti with 6, but others only got around 5, and that TV station even only gave Inzaghi 4.5. It is hard to imagine such a team can do much thing on the big stage. The Italian press surely will put a lot of pressure on Zoff, who was just given a 5 by RAI in the Italy-Norway match.

As reported in La Gazzetta dello Sport, it said Napoli was not interested in Baggio. Also it seems that Roby won't be playing in the Sydney olympic, since Italy under-21 coach Marco Tardelli didn't included Baggio in his squad. And because the Sydney olympic will be held in September, Italian Serie A will start on October 1.
On the other hand, according to Inter official site, Lippi thanked Roby by saying "I never undervalued his great talent. He was really impressive in the Champions League play off match, which was actually his last game at Inter."
